God loves you. You’ve heard that before, right? Hard to believe sometimes though, isn’t it? This might be even harder to believe – on your worst day, God loved you. Look at this incredible scripture.
Romans 5:8 says, But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
You don’t have to get cleaned up before you come to Christ. And no matter what you have done in the past or will ever do in the future, his love will stay the same. He loves you with an everlasting love. Check this beauty out: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.”
Yes, he has been drawing you. That’s why you’re wondering about salvation. And here’s what he did for you…
God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life. That’s John 3:16.
That’s a good one to memorize!
Why did Jesus die for you? To wipe out your sin. Someone had to pay for what you’ve done. Since sacrifices are a thing of the past, you can’t even do enough good to pay for your sins. The only way out was for Jesus to come to your rescue. This is what he did:
But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. (Isaiah 53:5.)
That’s a lot to take in but he did it because he loved you so much.
Here’s all you need to do to be saved: Ask forgiveness, believe and you’ll be saved.
Romans 10:13 says, If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.
Take a moment and pray this simple prayer out loud:
“Jesus, I realize you gave your life for me to be saved. Please forgive me of my sins. I confess that you are my Lord and Savior. I believe what you have provided for me, though it’s too big to really comprehend. I receive your salvation now. Thank you for making me righteous – a brand new person inside and out.”
Now, that you are saved, I encourage you to find a good Bible-believing church. And one more thing. Get a Bible you can understand and start reading it a little everyday. The New Living Translation (NLT) is an easy read. And if you like to read on your phone there’s a great Bible app called the YouVersion that has all different kinds of translations from King James to more modern ones like the NLT that I mentioned. And it’s free.
