9 Benefits You Have If You’re In Christ

Imagine you’re hired a prestigious company who is known for great benefits and taking care of their employees extremely well (Think Google, Netfix, Etc).

Your first day on the job you’re handed a packet which details your benefits. Since you don’t really like to read, you just kinda skim the packet of paperwork and toss it in the backseat of your car. You know you can read the rest later when you have time.

Several months later you find out your having a baby.

A baby? YAY! Congratulations to you and your spouse!

And as exciting as that is, now you’re wondering how your life is going to change. Ekks!

How you’re going to handle the stress of finding a competent baby-sitter you can trust so you can dash off to work every morning?

You look at the classified ads for a good baby-sitter. You check with family and friends. You ask around.

You got nothing. You’re still without someone you can trust to care for your new bundle of love.

Time is running out. The delivery date is coming soon and your stressing… Still no sitter.

Thankfully, someone in the break room overhears your dilemma.

They ask,  “Didn’t you read your benefits package?”

“You don’t need to loose sleep over finding the right baby sitter. Your benefits package covers free child care as an employee of this company!”

What?  You had access to this all along?

Yes! But you didn’t know it because you never took the time to read what was given to you in your benefits package.

Kinda makes me think of this scripture in Hosea 4 that goes like this:

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…

Getting Acquainted With Your Benefits Package

Hey, I don’t want you lacking in any area of your life. So, I want you to get acquainted with the benefits package you have in Christ.

You may have only heard about this second hand. Maybe you’ve not read the fine print in your Bible for yourself. If so, no sweat. Let’s take a look and make sure you totally understand the benefits you’re entitled to IF you are in Christ.

Just what can you count on if you’re a believer?

Below is a quick list of 9 benefits from Psalm 103:1-5. Let’s take a look at what you have, so you can receive them as you believe they belong to you.

Psalm 103

Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name!

Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits

Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases,

Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy;

Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle’s [strong, overcoming, soaring]!(A)

I love this, don’t you?!

Here’s a breakdown of these 9 benefits:

  1. He forgives you. Not just once either! Verse 3 says God forgives ALL your iniquities.
  2. He Heals you. Not just one healing either! Verse 3 says God heals ALL your diseases.
  3. He redeems you. Meaning you’re salvation is fixed in him!
  4. He beautifies you. Makes you look good in His eyes!
  5. He dignifies you. You’re guilt can fade in the light of Christ so you can feel worthy.
  6. He crowns you kindness. That’s the loving-kind!
  7. And mercy too – in the most tender way.
  8. He satisfies your desires. (Everything you need and desire, no matter what stage you’re in, no matter your situation, He’s got you covered.)
  9. You’re renewed like you were when you were young so you can be strong, overcome every obstacle, and soar over every circumstance.

That’s a complete benefit package! So, know what you’re entitled to! Keep this passage of scripture in a spot where you will see it and stay acquainted with all Jesus has given you. The only reason you won’t have these benefits is if you forget their yours!

Here’s a quick prayer starter for you so you can keep these benefits on your radar:

God, thank you for all that you’ve done to forgive me of all of my sins. All is a big word. It makes me so grateful. Thank you for saving me from destruction. I may need reminding from time to time of the fact that your crowning me with loving kindness and tender mercies. That’s a lot to take in. Show me how you’re satisfying my mouth with good things and how you are renewing my youth like the eagle’s. Help me remember all of these benefits every day. Show me more of what Christ has done for me. I am thankful. I will bless the Lord, and FORGET NOT ALL HIS BENEFITS.
